Speech-Language Pathology services are offered in two locations: Mt. Airy and Westminster. Speech-language pathology services are aimed at helping
people of all ages develop effective communication skills. These include:

  • Helping people re-learn speech, language, and cognitive skills after
        a stroke or head injury.

  • Helping people learn the proper production of speech sounds.

  • Helping children with their speech and language development.

  • Helping people who stutter to speak fluently.

  • Helping people with voice disorders to improve their speaking voice.

  • Helping people who have difficulty swallowing as a result of illness, surgery,
        stroke or injury.

  • Helping people with severe speech problems using augmentative and
        alternative communication systems.

  • Certified Speech-Language Pathologists receive a Master's degree from an accredited university program, conduct a clinical fellowship year, and pass a national examination to receive their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHLA), the national professional accrediting organization. Maryland requires Speech-Language Pathologists to hold a state license.
