Speech-Language Pathology services are offered in two locations: Mt. Airy and Westminster. Speech-language pathology services are aimed at helping people of all ages develop effective communication skills. These include: Helping people re-learn speech, language, and cognitive skills after     a stroke or head injury. Helping people learn the proper production of speech sounds. Helping children with their speech and language development. Helping people who stutter to speak fluently. Helping people with voice disorders to improve their speaking voice. Helping people who have difficulty swallowing as a result of illness, surgery,     stroke or injury. Helping people with severe speech problems using augmentative and     alternative communication systems. Certified Speech-Language Pathologists receive a Master's degree from an accredited university program, conduct a clinical fellowship year, and pass a national examination to receive their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHLA), the national professional accrediting organization.
